Discover the timeless beauty of Uzbekistan — a captivating Silk Road destination where turquoise-domed mosques, ancient caravanserais, bustling bazaars, and warm hospitality create an unforgettable journey through Central Asia. From the grand architectural wonders of Samarkand and the atmospheric old town of Bukhara to the open-air museum city of Khiva, Uzbekistan blends centuries of history with vibrant local culture. Travelers can wander through UNESCO World Heritage sites, enjoy authentic Uzbek cuisine such as plov and shashlik, ride high-speed trains across desert landscapes, and experience the enduring legacy of the ancient Silk Road.

This 8-night, 9-day itinerary combines iconic cultural landmarks, immersive local experiences, scenic train journeys, and relaxed exploration for a balanced and enriching adventure.

Itinerary:

Sat. Sept 23:

 Arrival in Tashkent

  • Arrive in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan
  • Meet and transfer to hotel
  • Explore:
    • Hazrati Imam Complex
    • Chorsu Bazaar
    • Independence Square
    • Tashkent Metro stations
  • Welcome dinner featuring traditional Uzbek cuisine

Sun and Mon. Sept 24 and 25:

Day 2: Tashkent to Khiva

  • Morning domestic flight to Khiva (via Urgench)
  • Transfer to the UNESCO-listed Itchan Kala
  • Walking tour of:
    • Kalta Minor Minaret
    • Kunya Ark Fortress
    • Juma Mosque
    • Tosh Hovli Palace
  • Sunset views over the ancient mud-brick city

Day 3: Khiva Exploration

Overnight: Khiva

  • Leisurely exploration of Khiva’s historic lanes
  • Visit local artisan workshops:
    • Silk weaving
    • Wood carving
    • Carpet making
  • Optional rooftop dinner overlooking the old city
  • Evening cultural folklore performance

Tues and Weds Sept 26 and 27:

Day 4: Khiva to Bukhara

  • Transfer across the Kyzylkum Desert by train or road
  • Arrive in the ancient Silk Road city of Bukhara
  • Evening stroll around Lyabi Hauz plaza
  • Tea house experience beside the historic pond

Day 5: Discover Bukhara

Overnight: Bukhara

  • Full-day guided city tour:
    • Ark Fortress
    • Bolo Hauz Mosque
    • Poi Kalyan Complex
    • Samanid Mausoleum
    • Trading domes and bazaars
  • Optional hammam (traditional bathhouse) experience
  • Dinner with traditional music performance

Thurs and Fri Sept 28 and 29:

Day 6: Bukhara to Samarkand

Overnight: Samarkand

Morning high-speed train to Samarkand

  • Begin sightseeing:
    • Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum
    • Registan Square
  • Evening light and sound atmosphere around Registan

Day 7: Explore Samarkand

Overnight: Samarkand

  • Visit:
    • Shah-i-Zinda Necropolis
    • Bibi-Khanym Mosque
    • Siab Bazaar
    • Ulugh Beg Observatory
  • Participate in a traditional plov cooking masterclass
  • Free evening for cafés and local shopping

Sat and Sun Sept 30 and Nov 1 :

Day 8: Samarkand to Tashkent

Morning at leisure in Samarkand

  • High-speed Afrosiyob train back to Tashkent
  • Last-minute shopping and café visits
  • Farewell dinner

Day 9: Departure

  • Transfer to airport
  • Departure from Tashkent with unforgettable memories of the Silk Road
